Eva Casey-Velasquez

Eva Velzaquez is the President and CEO of the Identity Theft Resource Center, a nonprofit dedicated to assisting victims of identity-related crimes. Previously, she served as the Vice President of Operations for the San Diego Better Business Bureau and spent 21 years at the San Diego District Attorney’s Office. Eva is nationally recognized as an expert in identity crimes and the recipient of several awards including: the National Crime Victim Service Award from the Department of Justice and OVC, the National Consumer League’s Florence Kelley Consumer Leadership Award, The Stevie® Award for Women in Business internationally and the San Diego Business Journal 2016 Women Who Mean Business Award.
Eva has a wealth of knowledge not only about the ins and outs of directing a nonprofit but trauma, its effects, and the importance of nonprofits like ours to increase access to community healing options. Eva recently published her first book, The Monster Inside, Architecting a Life of Resilience after Sexual Abuse. Her inspiring memoir sheds light on the reality of domestic violence and serves as a sign of hope for readers about learning to shed the shame of trauma and embrace one's own resilient spirit. Eva’s experience, passion, and foresight help us drive this nonprofit forward with confidence in our organization and hope for a safer future.
